The House & Surroundings

Within the house/site compound

“Building site”

Their green house

The fierce dog that is always in snooze mode

Their chicken coop that provides us with fresh eggs & the well that water is drawn from. No direct supplies of water through pipes into house nor did we find any shower facilities.

The mobile sink that we need to constantly refill the bucket with water.

Notice that wooden structure? That is their only WC with just 2 holes in the ground… hold your breath, aim into the hole and try not to look down or even fall into it.

Floor Plan An impression of the floor plan of the wooden house that the family of 4 used to live in.

Kitchen facilities – 1 iron stove burnt with wood, a table and a cupboard.

The original external build up of the house – wooden logs, crossed timber battens & plaster. Just a reminder, winter temperature can go as low as –20C! It is not ideal to stay in the house during these cold periods and the family will usually move to their Ger instead.

Pultenee’s (coordinator’s husband) funky bike park outside the house. The bike that can transport a family of 3+.
